Jewellery Care

Each Seide piece is handcrafted with love and care, using high-quality pearls and semi-precious stones. To keep your jewellery looking its best for years to come, we recommend following these simple care guidelines.

General Care Tips

Avoid contact with water. Pearls and semi-precious stones are delicate and can be damaged by water, especially saltwater and chlorinated water. Always remove your jewellery before showering, swimming, or washing your hands.

Keep away from chemicals. Perfumes, lotions, hairsprays, and household cleaning products can dull the lustre of pearls and stones. Apply cosmetics and perfumes before putting on your jewellery.

Store properly. When not in use, store your jewellery in a soft pouch or a lined jewellery box to prevent scratches and tangling. Avoid storing pearls in airtight containers, as they need moisture to maintain their natural beauty.

Handle with care. Pearls and semi-precious stones can be fragile. Avoid dropping or knocking your jewellery against hard surfaces, as this may cause chipping or cracking.

Cleaning Your Jewellery

Pearls: wipe gently with your chamois cloth after wearing to remove oils and dirt. Never use harsh chemicals or ultrasonic cleaners, as they can damage the delicate surface of pearls.

Semi-precious stones: clean with your chamois cloth. For a deeper clean, use mild soap and lukewarm water, then dry thoroughly with a soft cloth. Avoid soaking porous stones like lapis lazuli, turquoise, and opal, as they can absorb water and become damaged.

Metal components: If your jewellery contains gold or silver elements, use your chamois polishing cloth to restore its shine. Silver can be gently cleaned with a silver polish cloth to prevent tarnishing.

Special Care for Pearl Jewellery

Wear them often. Pearls benefit from natural oils in your skin, which help maintain their shine. The more you wear them, the better they look!

Keep them separate. Pearls are soft and can be scratched by harder gemstones or metals. Store them separately in a soft pouch or fabric-lined jewellery box.

By following these care instructions, you can ensure that your handcrafted jewellery remains a treasured part of your collection for years to come. If you have any questions about caring for your jewellery, feel free to contact us at hello@seide.com.au
